OBITUARY -- Linda Pedigo Caviness
Linda Pedigo Caviness, 66, Warrenton, VA resident and DeKalb County, TN native died May 4, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in DeKalb County, TN on November 20, 1945 and moved with her family to the Shellsford area of Warren County, TN in 1947. She was the daughter of the late Wesley and Mary Elizabeth Moore Pedigo. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Cletus Caviness of Germantown, TN. She graduated from Central High School in McMinnville, TN in 1963, the salutatorian of her senior class. She received her bachelors degree from Memphis State University and spent more than 25 years as an educator, first as an instructor at Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, TN, then as a teacher at Warren County High School in McMinnville, TN and in the South Orange Maplewood School District in Maplewood, NJ, primarily teaching foreign languages. She was married to her husband of 35 years Albert Wayne Caviness on April, 9, 1977. In addition to her husband she is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Leigh (Tom) Jacobs of Pittsburgh, PA and Juliet Elizabeth Caviness and fiancé Jesse Fruchter of Warrenton, VA; son, Luther Wayne Caviness of Warrenton, VA; sisters, Evelena Pedigo (Mark) Ashburn of Smithville, TN and Virginia Pedigo (Gary) Newby of Sparta, TN; brothers, Dr. Thurman Lee Pedigo, Sr. (Jeanne) of Murfreesboro, TN, Ralph Walter (RayNell) Pedigo and Charles Wesley Pedigo Johnson all of McMinnville, TN; and mother-in-law, Melva Caviness of Germantown, TN. A host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, extended family and friends also survive. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Wyoming Presbyterian Church, Millburn, NJ with Rev. Nick Van Gombos officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Linda Pedigo Caviness Scholarship Fund. Arrangements by HIGH FUNERAL HOME, McMinnville, TN (931)473-2137.
